 Let’s Understand the Qur’an Lesson -9a Dr. Abdulazeez Abdulraheem

In this lesson… Qur ’ an: Surah Nasr Grammar : يَفْعَلُ، يَفْعَلُونَ، تَفْعَلُ، تَفْعَلُونَ، أفْعَلُ، نَفْعَلُ Educational tip: Make a Team In this lesson you will learn 3 new words which occur in Qur’an almost 935 times

26,257 78,000 By the end of this lesson, we will learn 56 words, which occur in Qur’an almost 26,257 times There are 4,500 words in Qur’an which are repeated almost 78,000 times

Introduction This Surah was the last complete Surah revealed to our Prophet (SAW). This Surah indicates that our Prophet SAW had fulfilled his task, accomplished his mission, and he could look forward to returning to his Lord in full favour, as his death was approaching fast. This Surah teaches the beautiful manners of:  asking for Allah’s forgiveness and  offering constant praise and thanks to our Lord.

إِذَاجَآءَ نَصْرُ اﷲِ وَالْفَتْحُ ( 1) Whencomes the Help of Allah, and the Victory, سُورَةُ الفتح

When إِذْ إِذَا جَآءَ نَصْرُ اﷲِ وَالْفَتْحُ ( 1) Whencomes the Help of Allah, and the Victory,

Came When (it) comes جَاءَ إِذَا جَاءَ إِذَاجَآءَ نَصْرُ اﷲِ وَالْفَتْحُ ( 1) Whencomes the Help of Allah, and the Victory, ج ي ء إذا makes a Perfect Tense as Imperfect Tense

إِذَاجَآءَ نَصْرُ اﷲِ وَالْفَتْحُ ( 1) Whencomes the Help of Allah, and the Victory, ن ص رن ص ر help نَصْرنَصْر

إِذَاجَآءَ نَصْرُ اﷲِ وَالْفَتْحُ ( 1) Whencomes the Help of Allah, and the Victory, ف ت حف ت ح opening فَتْحُ victory

The Victory = Conquest of Makkah in 10 th year of Hijrah إِذَاجَآءَ نَصْرُ اﷲِ وَالْفَتْحُ ( 1) Whencomes the Help of Allah, and the Victory, ف ت حف ت ح

إِذَاجَآءَ نَصْرُ اﷲِ وَالْفَتْحُ ( 1) Whencomesthe Help of Allah,and the Victory, Message from:  Victory comes from Allah alone. We can just try.  Everything happens with Allah’s help alone.  O Allah! Give us victory! (Evaluate: How much time…?)

يَدْخُلُونَ فِيدِينِ اﷲِ أَفْوَاجًا ( 2) Entering [into] (the) religion of Allah in crowds / troops, سُورَةُ الفتح وَرَأَيْتَالنَّاسَ And you seethe people

وَ رَأَيْتَ النَّاسَ And you seethe people ر أ ير أ ي you sawand

وَ ( إِذَا ) رَأَيْتَ وَرَأَيْتَالنَّاسَ And you seethe people ر أ ير أ ي you seeand (when)

وَرَأَيْتَالنَّاسَ And you seethe people ن و سن و س Man إِنْسَان People نَاس

People: from different tribes of Arabia وَرَأَيْتَالنَّاسَ And you seethe people ن و س

يَدْخُلُونَ فِيدِينِ اﷲِ أَفْوَاجًا ( 2) entering [into] (the) religion of Allah in crowds / troops, د خ لد خ ل Entry دُخُول Exit خُرُو ج At airports; parking lots; on visa; …

Practice يَدْخُلُونَ فِي دِينِ اﷲِ أَفْوَاجًا ( 2) entering [into] (the) religion of Allah in crowds / troops, وَرَأَيْتَالنَّاسَ And you seethe people Esp. with Imagination & feelings; Prayer & Evaluation

فَسَبِّ حْبِحَمْدِرَبِّكَوَاسْتَغْفِرْهُ Then glorify with (the) praise (of) your Lord and ask forgive- ness of Him.

فَ سَبِّحْ س ب حس ب ح then; thus glorify; فَسَبِّ حْبِحَمْدِرَبِّكَوَاسْتَغْفِرْهُ Then glorify with (the) praise (of) your Lord and ask forgive- ness of Him.

to say: سُبْحَانَ الله is to declare that Allah is free from defects سَبِّحْ س ب حس ب ح فَسَبِّ حْبِحَمْدِرَبِّكَوَاسْتَغْفِرْهُ Then glorify with (the) praise (of) your Lord and ask forgive- ness of Him.

ح م د بِ حَمْد with praise فَسَبِّ حْبِحَمْدِرَبِّكَوَاسْتَغْفِرْهُ Then glorify with (the) praise (of) your Lord and ask forgive- ness of Him.

تسبيح Negation of the Negatives حمد تسبيح and حمد

ر ب بر ب ب فَسَبِّ حْبِحَمْدِرَبِّكَوَاسْتَغْفِرْهُ Then glorify with (the) praise (of) your Lord and ask forgive- ness of Him. Who takes care of us and helps us grow رَبِّكَ: Your Rabb

وَ اِسْتَغْفِرْ هُ غ ف رغ ف ر فَسَبِّ حْبِحَمْدِرَبِّكَوَاسْتَغْفِرْهُ Then glorify with (the) praise (of) your Lord and ask forgive- ness of Him. Himask forgiveness ofand

Message from:  You can’t praise, if don’t truly believe that Allah is free from defects.  Our praise and glorification of Allah is imperfect, and we should seek forgiveness for that too.  Whenever we get to start a good work, we should glorify, praise and seek forgiveness of Allah فَسَبِّ حْبِحَمْدِرَبِّكَوَاسْتَغْفِرْهُ Then glorify with (the) praise (of) your Lord and ask forgive- ness of Him.

Practice فَسَبِّ حْبِحَمْدِرَبِّكَوَاسْتَغْفِرْهُ Then glorify with (the) praise (of) your Lord and ask forgive- ness of Him. Esp. with Imagination & feelings; Prayer & Evaluation

إِنَّه ، كَانَتَوَّابًا ( 3) Indeed, HeisOft-forgiving سُورَةُ الفتح

إِنَّه ، كَانَتَوَّابًا ( 3) Indeed, HeisOft-forgiving إِنَّ +... إِنَّه ، إِنَّهُمْ إِنَّكَ إِنَّكُمْ إِنِّي إِنَّنَا إِنَّهَا

إِنَّه ، كَانَتَوَّابًا ( 3) Indeed, HeisOft-forgiving كَانَ = was Only for Allah كَانَ = is

إِنَّه ، كَانَتَوَّابًا ( 3) Indeed, HeisOft-forgiving تَابَ : to turn تَائِب : One who turns تَوَّاب : One who turns often اللہ غلام

إِنَّه ، كَانَتَوَّابًا ( 3) Indeed, HeisOft-forgiving تَوَّابُون تَوَّابِين تَوَّاب +

إِنَّه ، كَانَتَوَّابًا ( 3) Indeed, HeisOft-forgiving Message from:  Repent immediately!

فَسَبِّحْبِحَمْدِرَ بِّكَ Then glorifywith (the) praise(of) your Lord وَاسْتَغْفِرْهُإِنَّه ، كَانَ تَوَّابًا ( 3) Indeed, HeisOft-forgiving سُورَۃُ النَّصْر

فعل Verb

فعل Verb فـ ـعـ ـل فـ ـعـ ـل فـ ـتـ ـح فـ ـتـ ـح نـ ـصـ ـر نـ ـصـ ـر ضـ ـر ب ضـ ـر ب In Arabic language most of verbs comes from three root letters

Arabic language has two types of verbs Being done or will be done فِعْل مَاضِي فِعْل مُضَارِع That which is done That which is not done yet

Arabic language has two types of verbs Perfect tense 1. فِعْل مَاضِي This verb tells us that the work is finished We will learn perfect tense, using three root letters ” ف ع ل “

َ - ُ وْا تَ تُمْ تُ نَا فِعْل مَاضِي Perfect Tense He did They didفَعَلَفَعَلُوا You did You all didفَعَلْتَفَعَلْتُمْ I did We didفَعَلْتُفَعَلْنَا Almost 5000 words have come in the Qur’an on this pattern

ماضي َ ـُوا فَعَل ـتَ ـتُمْ فَعَلْ ـتُ ـنَا

Already He already done They already Done قَدْ فَعَلَ قَدْ فَعَلُوا You already Done You all have already done قَدْ فَعَلْتَ قَدْ فَعَلْتُمْ I have already Done We have already Done قَدْ فَعَلْتُ قَدْ فَعَلْنَا

He does They do يَفْعَلُ يَفْعَلُو نَ You do You all do تَفْعَلُ تَفْعَلُو نَ I do We do أَفْعَلُ نَفْعَلُ Flowers are chosen here to represent good deeds; somebody did the good work. InshaAllah we all did some good and beg Allah to accept them. Keep this in mind while doing the ‘fa’ala’ exercises. He did (good work); They did (good work), … Almost 5000 words have come in the Qur’an on these patterns فِعْل مُضَارِع Imperfect Tense

نَفْعَلُونَ وہ کرتا ہے وہ سب کرتے ہیں يَفْعَلُ يَفْعَلُو نَ آپ کرتےہیں آپ سب کرتے ہیں تَفْعَلُ تَفْعَلُو نَ میں کرتا ہوں ہم سب کرتے ہیں أَفْعَلُنَفْعَلُ

يَفْعَلُ يَفْعَلُونَ فَعَلَ فَعَلُوا تَفْعَلُ تَفْعَلُونَ فَعَلْتَ فَعَلْتُمْ أَفْعَلُ نَفْعَلُ فَعَلْتُ فَعَلْنَا Almost 10,000 words have come in the Qur’an on these patterns - وْا تَ تُمْ تُ نَا يَ تَ أَ نَ When practicing in Arabic, say it as if you are talking to Arabs

Why are planes flying?  If you are standing near the middle of an airstrip, you can see only the ending part of the plane that has gone ( ماضي ).  You see only the front part of the plane that is coming ( مضارع ).
