2011 BUCK/BULL CWMU & LANDOWNER ASSOCIATION

APPLICATIONS FOR CWMUs 103 3-year application/management plans were approved Dec 2008 Added 6 CWMU’s Dec 2009 This year 14 applications are requesting approval 4 brand new 10 changed boundaries or operator change Additionally this year 10 CWMU’s have submitted change applications for CWMU management needs and require approval 1 CWMU dropped out of the program for this year

2010 LANDOWNER ASSOCIATION BUCK/BULL VOUCHERS TOTALS 16 Landowner Associations 132 deer vouchers 4 management buck vouchers 96 elk vouchers 9 pronghorn vouchers Numbers based on approval of DWR recommendations.

LANDOWNER ASSOCIATION APPLICATION ISSUES West Desert, Vernon CR: LOA requested 35 deer vouchers; the Division recommends 34. The LOA qualifies for 34 vouchers according to the percent of association land within the unit and the number of permits available to the public on the unit the previous year (R657-43-8.3). Mt.Dutton/Paunsaugunt SR: LOA requested 6 pronghorn vouchers, the Division recommends 5. The LOA qualifies for 5 vouchers according to the percent of association land within the unit and the number of permits available in the public draw on the unit the previous year (R657-43-8.3).

Rule/Policy Changes Changes to R657-5: Taking Big Game Primarily house cleaning Remove references to “proclamation” - replace with Big Game and Antlerless Guidebooks Remove Henry Mountain bison reference - no need to specify HM bison as bison are now in other areas Depredation Hunter Pool - add moose and bison options

Changes to R657-44: Big Game Depredation R657-44-2 Defines “Nuisance” Describes a situation where big game animals are found to have moved off formally approved management units onto adjacent units or other areas not approved for that species; this includes OIAL species R657-44-3 Change wording to exclude OIAL species from mitigation permits/vouchers R657-44-7 Change wording for bucks and bulls depredation hunts Adds wording to include nuisance big game animals Change wording to allow removal of once-in-a-lifetime species in depredation and nuisance situations R657-44-8 Change wording in antlerless depredation hunts Add wording to include nuisance big game animals in antlerless depredation hunts
