Sloth They are one of the slowest land animals. They move at a rate of one hundredth of a mile per hour. They are one of the laziest animals sleeping for three quarters of their life.

Mealy Parrot This parrot is one of the largest green parrots in the Amazon. They are 16 inches long. They travel in pairs flying above the rainforest.

Apple Snail This snail is one of the largest. It got its name since it is about the size of an apple. It lives in fresh water but can also survive out of the water for a short time.

Anaconda This is the world’s biggest snake. It spends most of its time in the water awaiting its prey. Its main food consists of small mammals, aquatic birds, and other reptiles.

Long Wing Butterflies There are various types of long wing butterflies. These butterflies are poisonous. Other butterflies fly in large groups with them which serves as a protection from predators.

Summary Spider monkeys are the most acrobatic, have little or no thumbs, and sleep in groups. Jaguars hunt close to the water, eat birds and fish and are endangered. Sloth's are one of the slowest land animals moving at a rate of one hundredth of a mile per hour and sleeping three quarters of their life. The Anaconda spends its time in the water awaiting its prey. The Long Wing Butterflies have hundreds of similar looking ones which work to their advantage sing the Long Wing is poisonous.

Assessment Now that we have gone over the different rainforest animals you will get into your groups to play a memory game. Match the information on one card with the specific animal that card goes to. You will then complete a worksheet matching the animal with the details of that animal.
