The Rainforest Topic Web Yellow Class Spring Term 2014 Gathering and presenting information about a particular aspect of the rainforest. Use the internet to find and verify facts. Make a poster advertising a Fair-trade product from the rainforest. Explain why deforestation is bad for the environment Write a story using one of the following titles: -Lost in the jungle -The river monster - Carnival Craziness Write a letter to the Prime Minister explaining why we need to save rain forests and suggest ways in which we can help e.g. only buying rainforest friendly/fair-trade products. I enjoy maths Amazon maths sheetFind out the population of each country the Amazon river flows through. Then put in order from largest to smallest. Find out the length of the Amazon river in kilometres and then work out how long that is in metres. Take a trip to the supermarket and write a price list for 10 items that come from the rainforest. Make a collage using paint, scrap pieces of materials and paper showing the rainforest foliage and flowers Make a 3D model of an animal out of recycled materials. Write 3 things that are different between Samba and your favourite type of music. Write 1 thing that is the same. Make your own samba drum and create your own samba rhythms. Using homemade instruments make a rainforest soundscape. (lots of different jungle noises) Children can choose which activity they would like to do each week. Children must complete at least TWO activities from ‘I enjoy reading, writing and speaking’ and at least TWO activities from ‘I enjoy maths.’
