Walker Wildcats Athletics SPORTS OFFERED Girls’ Basketball-Fall Boys’ Soccer-Fall Boys’ Basketball-Late Fall/Early Winter Cheerleading-Late Fall/Early Winter Girls’ Volleyball-Winter Boys’ Bowling-Winter Girls’ Soccer-Spring Boys’ and Girls’ Cross Country-Spring

Playing Time > Everyone MUST play. Playing time may not be equal. -Attendance-Effort -School/Practice behavior issues Coaches will contact you if there is an issue.

Eligibility Behavior: >Two Blue-Level infractions or One Red-Level infraction according to our new school-wide behavior system. Length of ineligibility will be based upon individual and severity of the incident(s).

Eligibility Academic: a.) More than 2 missing assignments in one class b.) 2 missing assignments in multiple classes c.) 1.75 or below in a class with no efforts to improve.

Eligibility (cont.) Attendance: Must be present at school that day to practice/play. -unless you have an excused absence -need to be at school before lunch Attitude/Conduct: In-school or Out-of-school Suspension -ineligible for next game. *Ineligible players MAY NOT dress for the game.

Removal From Participation 1.) Missing 3 games due to ineligibility 2.) Missing of school due to 2 suspensions during the season. * In-school or Out-of-school suspension* * In-school or Out-of-school suspension* 3.) Verbal or physical attack upon any individual. 4.) Refusing to participate in practices or contests.

Guidelines > Time Commitment -May be committed up to 6 days (This would include tournament week). Most teams generally go 4-5 days a week. >Cancellations -Hosting school cancels games. School should know by 1:30 and no later than 2:00. -If school is cancelled there will be no contest. >No Jewelry -Tape cannot cover earrings -No barrettes: Scrunchy or rubber band hair tie.

Attitude >MORAL FOCUS SCHOOL -Parents need to lead by example. -Inappropriate behavior will be asked to leave. -Represent yourself, your child, and Walker Charter Academy. -Coaches and teams receive sportsmanship scores.

Practices -Cell Phones *Per the school handbook, cell phones and electronic devices are not allowed by students (this includes after-school activities). -After School *If a team has a late practice, students may not roam the hallways after school. They must have permission from a teacher to be in their classroom before practice.

General Rules-Walker -If a team member resigns or is dismissed from a team, he/she will be ineligible to participate in Walker athletic programs until the following season. -Once on a team, he/she must make participation a priority over vacations and non-school trips. Missing practices may effect the playing time/performance of the students.

Parent Drivers Driving for games: 1. Need to have the parent volunteer form completed and turned in to the office. 2. Office needs to have a copy of your drivers license and insurance on file. Picking up students: BE RESPECTFUL! 3-strike policy

Parent Volunteers >Help coaches coordinate drivers for each game. Drivers: Please park in the carpool area of the parking lot. >Help coordinate snack and drink for each game. >Please help pick-up after games before leaving with your child. >Please contact your child’s coach if you would be willing step into this role.

Uniforms >Uniforms need to be taken care of and returned. *If uniforms are returned damaged, parents are responsible for full replacement cost. >Coaches are not paid until uniforms are returned.

Before Your Child Can Play An updated physical and Forms packet need to be completed and returned to Mr. Reed or Mary and Cheryl in the office.

Before Games -Players and Parents: >Submit $10.00 pay-to-play fee >Submit $10.00 pay-to-play fee >Forms packet *Both need to be returned to Mr. Reed
