Victims Rights Act Amendment Bill 2002 (a) require victims of crime to be informed in a timely manner of certain aspects of criminal proceedings against an accused person, (b) require victims of a serious crime that involves sexual violence, or that results in actual bodily harm, mental illness or nervous shock to the victim, to be consulted before any decision of the prosecution to modify or not to proceed with charges against the accused person is taken. Girl Hopes Court Win Helps other Victims Young girl who cannot be named was bullied since the age of 7 to the age of 15 They physically and mentally abused the young girl. Such as pinched, punched and threatened her life, As a result she now suffers with post traumatic stress syndrome. Her perpetrators were seen to be to young to have criminal intent. Therefore making her ineligible for victims compensation. The young girl’s victims rights were abused as she was not treated with courtesy, compassion and respect.
