INTRODUCTION SmartBenefits® is an employee sponsored program used to assign value to SmarTrip® cards for: Travel On Metrobus, Metrorail, and other regional transit systems Registered van pools Metro parking benefits for the commuter benefits program Official business travel for employees
INTRODUCTION During this training, you are the SmartBenefits® account administrator for your company. An employee, Jessie Bryant, comes to you and says, “ I would like to enroll in the SmartBenefits® program.”
SmartBenefits® You will assist Jessie with her enrollment by performing the following tasks: 1.Log in to Metro’s website 2.Create a benefit category and amount 3.Add Jessie as an employee and review her SmartBenefits®information on the “Employee List” 4.Reassign benefits due to the loss of her card 5.Order vouchers and SmarTrip® cards 6.Decide whether to “suspend” or “remove” Jessie from the SmartBenefits® program.
Step 1 – Login to Metro’s Website Your Metro account representative has provided you with the following information. Enter it into the fields to the right: Customer ID User ID Password- ***** Put picture of login screen here.
After reading the Code of Conduct, click the down arrow and change No to Yes. Click LOGIN Put Code of Conduct screen here.

CREATE BENEFIT AMOUNT This area of the website will only work between the 1 st and the 15 th of the month. You must create a BENEFIT CATEGORY for each combination of benefits. CREATE BENEFIT AMOUNT Create Benefit Amount The first thing you will have to do for Jessie is to set up a benefit category for her. Jessie rides Metrorail to work. She spends $100/month on her fare. Enter the following information for Jessie: Category Type- 100 (You can choose what to put in this field. We suggest choosing a 3- digit number that relates to the SmartBenefits ® amount ) Category Description - SmartBenefits ® $100 (You can choose what to put in this field. We suggest choosing a description that relates to the SmartBenefits® amount and type for easy reference.) Category Status – Eligible (You may change this to Ineligible later if you want to remove a benefit category) Click SAVE.
Step 2 in this process involves defining the benefit amount associated with this category type. The category type of $100 is already filled in. Leave the Benefit Type as SmartBenefits. Benefit Amount is $100. Benefit Status is Eligible. Save. Need new screen capture for this screen

CREATE BENEFIT AMOUNT Now that you have created a benefit amount for Jessie, just for practice, let’s create some other benefit amounts for use later on in this training. Let’s create a COMBINATION benefit amount for Metrorail ($100) and parking ($100). Click on NEW BENEFIT CATEGORY Category Type- 200 (You can choose what to put in this field. We suggest choosing a 3- digit number that relates to the SmartBenefits ® amount ) Category Description – Transit Benefit $100 and Parking Benefit $100 (You can choose what to put in this field. We suggest choosing a description that relates to the SmartBenefits® amount and type for easy reference.) Category Status – Eligible (You may change this to Ineligible later if you want to remove a benefit category) SAVE
Now you must define the benefit amount associated with this category type. The category type of $200 is already filled in. Leave the Benefit Type as SmartBenefits. Benefit Amount is $100. Benefit Status is Eligible. Save. Wait for confirmation screen which says “benefit amount created successfully”. In Step 2 of this process, Category Type is pre-filled at $200. Change the Benefit Type to Metro Parking. Leave the Benefit Amount at $100. Eligible remains, then click SAVE. Finished Need screen capture for the screen that pops up here.
