Non-licensed anglers may purchase “trip” license for use on for-hire vessel. How we collect recreational landings data Participate in MRFSS– agency personnel act as dockside surveyors, validate interview information Participate in review of preliminary estimates from state summaries Phone and intercept portions of charter vessel survey (captains holding HMS and reef fish permits required to report – others report voluntarily)

Additional Notes Dockside refusal rate for MRFSS intercept <3% in previous year Charter telephone successful contact rate averages 60% The final disposition of the remaining 40% non-contact –12% answering machine –12% not in service (based on 2006 numbers) –6% were ineligible (no charter fishing) –4% were not available –2% no answer –1% refusal to participate 2005 was an unusual year
