Chronology of the Evolution of the Louisiana Public Health Institute Leadership of DHH/OPH discusses creation of LPHI DHH/OPH conducts a comparative study of other states’ public health institutes 7/1996-1/1997- Planning team (DHH/OPH, LSU Health Sciences Center, Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, Southern University Cooperative Extension Service and the College of Pharmacy of Xavier University) develops the concept and structure of a public health institute

Chronology of the Evolution of the Louisiana Public Health Institute 1/1997- Partners formally agree to create LPHI 7/1997- LPHI is officially incorporated 501(c)3 non-profit Louisiana Legislature endorses the concept of a public health institute LPHI receives a development grant from a Louisiana Foundation LPHI receives the Louisiana Turning Point grant Turning Point develops the Public Health Improvement Plan for Louisiana
