Yogi Berra has played on more pennant winning teams and world champion baseball teams than any other player in history. He has set many records for catchers, 148 consecutive games without an error, that is about 592 hours of perfection. Yogi was voted American league’s most valuable player in 1952, 1954 and Today he is still a living baseball legend at the age of 85
His Parents immigrated from Italy to St.Louis, Mo around the 1900’s He was a fourth son 3 brothers: Mike, Tony, John and 1 sister: Josie His family had to work hard as laborers to provide enough money for the family When Yogi was a kid he played baseball with his friends after school His baseball team as a kid was called the Stags sandlot Baseball team
o His Parents had no money, they had to live in a place called The Hills o When yogi got older he worked in a: o Coal yard o Sold newspapers called: The St.louis Post dispatch and the other one was the Star times
Awards: Yogi Berra day at Yankee stadium September 19, 1959 Inducted into the Baseball hall of fame April 7, 1972 Won 3 MVP awards Career: Played on the Yankees and got $90 a month plus a $500 bonus just for signing with the Yankees Yogi’s rookie salary was $5,000 Events: Yogi Played in 11 World Series He was the Yankees manager in 1964 Then he was fired October 16, 1964 20 years later December 5, 1975 named manager of the Yankees

A Teammate Jack Maguire, from Yogi’s childhood team the Stags, saw a movie about a spiritual leader Known as the Yogi. The Yogi sat very silently, reminding Jack how Larry would sit On the bench during ball games. The nickname stuck. Ever since nobody has called him Lawrence Peter Berra.
