Senate McCarthy’s voting record was generally conservative and did not follow the Republican Party line. He was re-elected in 1952 with 54% of the vote Main accomplishments of his first years where successful fight for housing legislation and work to ease sugar rationing. McCarthy refused to back down in issuing further accusations of communist influence on the government

Red Scare This happened shortly after the end of World War I and the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia, the Red Scare took hold in the United States. A nationwide fear of communists, socialists, anarchists, and other dissidents suddenly grabbed the American psyche in 1919 following a series of anarchist bombings. Innocent people were jailed for expressing their views, civil liberties were ignored, and many Americans feared that a Bolshevik-style revolution was at hand. More info. On Red Scare

Senate Hearings The hearing was Army-McCarthy hearing. McCarthy would threaten the witness before some of the hearings When this happened the witnesses would often loose their jobs when declining the subcommittees questions When the Supreme Court found this out they strengthened the rights of witnesses appearing before congressional committees

After Math Many hard-working citizens had loss their jobs because they were labeled as "Communists". People could not trust on another because of this relationships were being destroyed Innocent people had to go through the trauma of being prosecuted by their own country
