As Chief Diplomat, the President handles foreign affairs The President conducts foreign policy by directing the actions of American Ambassadors. Signs treaties and trade agreements with other nations

As Commander in Chief , the President commands the military The President decides where Armed Forces are to be stationed and what weapons will be used. The Department of Defense reports to the President as well as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, who is the Presidents top military commander.

As Chief Legislator, the President is a lawmaker The State of the Union is an annual address presented by the President of the United States to the United States Congress. The address not only reports on the condition of the nation but also allows the president to outline his legislative agenda and national priorities to Congress.

As Chief of Party, the President is the leader of his or her party The President helps members of his party get elected, he makes campaign speeches needed for re-election, and heads the fund-raising for the party

As Chief Executive, the President is Head of State and Chief Crisis Manager Decides how laws are enforced; chooses Cabinet members and advisors to help run the government. Acts as boss for all Federal employees.
