HOW TO USE THE DESTINY ONLINE CATALOG

Destiny Online This presentation is designed to introduce the new Destiny online public access catalog. Both students and teachers can use this presentation to acquaint themselves with how to navigate through this tool before coming to the media center or when using it from any school computer.

Destiny Online Destiny allows you to search online for a book or other catalog items on computers designated for online public access catalog searching.

Step 1 From any school computer, type:

Step 2 From the destiny website, click on Lovejoy High School.

Step 3 From the catalog tab use your search terms to first search your own school’s catalog for items you want. Type in the “Find” box.

Step 4 For speakers of French or Spanish, the catalog search commands can be translated by clicking on the language in the left column.

Step 5 For more advance searches, click on the “Power” tab. Type in the keyword(s) to find books.

Step 6 For limited English speakers or students with limited reading abilities, the “Visual” tab is helpful in assisting with the search of books and resources.

Step 7 The “Library Copy Categories” tab allows the user to exactly how many resources are available in the media center based on a particular subject.

Step 8 By clicking on the “View” icon, all the books under that subject can be viewed.

Step 9 As you search for resources, you can generate a list of the books interested in by clicking, “Add to this list.”

Step 10 When finished, open “In This List” from options listed on left of screen.

Step 11 Print out your list and use it to locate your desired items in the media center to check out. Be sure to clear your list when you are finished to have a clean slate for your next visit.
