The mission of Forestville High School Homeland Security and Military Science Career Academy is to provide student-centered educational opportunities of rigorous studies which encompass career exploration and experiences in order to develop, support and encourage student’s interest in continued education beyond the secondary level and career in industries that serve and protect citizens of the United States.

1.Develop “small learning communities.” to create a more personalized and supportive learning environment for academy students. 2.Provide opportunities for students to build leadership skills and various ranks within the school/community environment. 3.Develop and provide opportunities for students to attend college fairs, field trips, attend presentations of guest speakers in order to acquaint them with the various fields of employment covered by the academy. 4.Create/ organize student-centered academy projects that will allow students to expand their knowledge of various career/college pathways in their academy. 5.Create Student internships/mentors experiences for students to gain real life experiences.

At its core, the Career Academy model is about the 3 Rs - Rigor, Relevance, and Relationships. Rigor – COLLEGE PREP Relevance – REAL-LIFE JOBS AND LIFE SKILLS Relationships – COHORT CLASSES
