Curriculum Goals Español 3 Course Essential Learning: To build an understanding of: Structures, expressions & cultural norms in order to live & travel in the Spanish Speaking world; A variety of present and past tenses to describe and narrate; Structures and expressions to talk about future and possible events; Structures and expressions to express hopes, doubts, and to give advice

Curriculum Goals Course Essential Questions: How do I initiate, carry on and conclude a conversation? How do I write effectively in Spanish? How do I share cultural understanding? How do I talk about present and past events/preferences? How do I ask for and offer information? How do I express plans for the future and / or possible events? How do I communicate doubts/hopes/wishes? How do I ask for and give advise / recommendations?

Curriculum Goals Course Essential Skills: Use regular and irregular verbs the present, preterit and imperfect tenses Use preterit and imperfect combined Use regular and irregular verbs in the true future and conditional tenses Use the present subjunctive in noun clauses Integrate appropriate vocabulary, structures, tenses and moods Integrate idiomatic expressions, transitional phrases and organizational strategies interdependently in speaking and writing

Materials & Resources: The Spanish Language Course is primarily taught using the Expresate 2 (Holt) text as well as the accompanying workbooks and supplementary materials. The text is used to present grammar and vocabulary and incorporate them into realistic communicative contexts. Additional materials will be used and placed in student binders. Culture will be presented through literature, media activities, and research of traditions within the Spanish-speaking world.

How you can be proactive: Some possibilities to consider to help your child learn Spanish include: * Watching movies in Spanish * Eating at restaurants where the staff speaks Spanish * Visiting a Spanish-speaking place * Being part of an exchange program with someone in a Spanish-speaking country * Finding a native Spanish speaker to talk to * Participating/attending multi-cultural events * Playing games in Spanish (quia.com) * Learning amount famous Spanish-speakers and their backgrounds!

In the sidebar click icons for weblinks, powerpoints, etc. Homework is not posted on the web, it is the student’s responsibility to write homework in planner. CHS is now using Quia… The district’s site can answer many questions and acquaint you with school policies, events, faculty, facilities…
