General Objectives 1 To enable the students to speak and write correct English. 2 To encourage them to express their ideas and feelings. 3 To develop the imaginative power and enrich their vocabulary. 4To make students enjoy the English prose.

Specific Objectives 1To help the students to understand the imagery produced by the writer. 2 To acquaint them with the activities of Seagull and his family. 3 To enable them to read the lesson aloud with correct pronunciation.

Motivation 1By putting easy questions and praising the students for correct responses. 2 By showing them necessary audio-visual aids. 3By giving examples related to our daily life experiences. 4 By comparing and contrasting the old and new knowledge.

P.K.Testing The students will be asked some questions based on the story already discussed in the previous lesson. What problem was faced by the seagull ? What were the feelings of the seagull before taking his first flight? How was the seagull air born for the first time?

Seagull in Flight Seagull in Flight

The Seagull in the Air The seagull is extremely hungry . He dives at the fish deliberately dropped by his mother . He is fear-stricken for a while . Then he finds his wings spread outwards, helping him to soar in the sky . His mother , father ,brothers and sister all join him . He watches them making many movements in the air and explores flight like flying straight out over the ocean. He sees green vast see beneath with little ridges moving over it.

First Landing on the Sea At the behest of his family members he lands on the sea and is shocked to find himself half in water .He does not drown but floats on water. He is surrounded by his family praising him and offering him fish . Now he knows his capacity , capability and potential.

Group Activity 1st group will find words used for different movements of seagulls in the air. 2nd group will form questions based on the text. 3rd group will be asked to consult dictionary to find the meanings and pronunciation of difficult words. 4th group will count the number of times following words along with their derivatives have been used ; screaming, soaring , shrilly and wings.

Students’ Responses and Teacher’s Guidelines The words chosen by the students will be written on the black-board with their meanings .Loud pronunciation by the whole class will be done. The students will study silently for 3minutes. Students will pose questions to the class .The teacher will help the students to arrive at replies.

Home Assignment The students will be asked to answer the questions based on the text book. What did the seagull see as it flew along with his family? How did he feel when in air for the first time? How did his family react before and after making his first flight?
