COMPLETE SURRENDER

As we have talked about “giving your life over to the control of the Spirit,” have you sometimes felt overwhelmed with FEAR?

“You can’t eat an elephant in one bite?”

In the book, Coaching for Performance, John Whitmore tells the story of John Nabor and his incredible journey to Olympic history.

Nabor was motivated by an end goal that he was passionate about, AND he chose a process that created a path for him to achieve it.

Luke 9:23 “Then he said to the crowd, "If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me.”

1) Decide on what you would like God to do in your life over the next 5 years.

Think of some miracles that you need to happen.

Write them down – be specific

Tell someone!

Keep your goals close to hand and review them daily during your prayer time.

Be open to additional goals that you will add as the Spirit leads.

2) Tomorrow morning get up 30 minutes earlier to get alone with God and follow Jesus’ teaching in this passage.

a) Turn from your selfish ways.

Pray until you have a desire to serve Him for that day.

Study the Bible until you find a word that relates to your situation on that specific day.

Pray for the Spirit to help you desire to do what you should about the Bible teaching.

Ask the Spirit to give you a love for Him.

b) Die to yourself DAILY.

Ask the Spirit to help you give Him control of your life for that day.

Choose to step down off the throne of your life for that day and let the Spirit be in charge.

c) Trust Christ enough to FOLLOW His leadership for your life for that day.

Remind yourself of the great character of Your God. Focus especially on the love of God for you.

Remind yourself of all the times He has come through for you

Remind yourself of all the times you have blown things!

Pray a prayer entrusting Him with your life for that one day. You can do it!

3) Be ready to do battle with the cohorts of satan.

1 Peter 5:8 “Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.”

4) Be ready to battle with yourself.

Your fear of allowing the Holy Spirit to control your life is a SYMPTOM. The problem that causes your fear is UNBELIEF.

Memorize and quote Romans 8:28 all day long: “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of

those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”

WHEN YOU DO THIS God will give you motivation to follow Him, the wisdom to know what you need to do and the power to accomplish it.

Philippians 2:13 “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.”
