TANTALUS AND THE PELOPS Tantalus stole ambrosia from the gods which offended them, so he was punished by being sent to Tarterus and was tortured by condemning him to an afterlife of hunger and thirst whenever he would try to get a drink the water in the pool would drain from beneath him, also when he would go to try to grab a fruit from the tree he would poop everywhere.
