Sorting clothes Weight- Sturdy cotton, Knits, & Delicate Color- White, Light color, & Darks Heavily Soiled- very dirty, normal, & less Lint- Givers bath towels, lint takers synthetic fabrics
Pretreat When sorting set aside any clothes with stains Use stain removal chart or soak for up to 30mins before washing.
Loading Machine Check pockets make sure they are empty Add detergent according to machine’s manual and directions on the bottle or box Avoid overloading the machine- Items must move freely for good cleaning.

Hand Washing For Wools and Silks wash one at a time Can soak for 15mins to remove stains Rinse in cold water several times
Dryers Have three settings –regular, wrinkle free, or permanent press, and air fluff. Air fluff-no- heat cycle Remember at the end of drying to remove lint.
Line Drying and Flat Drying Fabric may shrink or stretch out of shape Shake out each item and place clothespins where they wont leave wrinkles Hang dry- remove as much moister as possible

Reading Care Labels What is the clothing item made out of? Where was it made? Machine Wash or Hand Wash? Can bleach be added? What type of drying method and temp? Can it be ironed and what temp?
