Big question  Will a tooth in a cup with Pepsi get more decay then a tooth in a cup with orange juice?

Hypothesis  I think that the tooth in the cup with the Pepsi will get the most decay because of Pepsi has a lot of things that are bad in it for your teeth that cause cavities.

Interesting facts 1. One way to get your teeth is from a dentist. 2. These two drinks do a lot more then you think they can do to your teeth. 3.Both of the teeth seem to soak up the liquid. 4.It is like the teeth get sick from all the bacteria it soaks up. 5. The teeth are so disgusting I prefer wearing gloves.

 Materials  two teeth  Paper  Pen  Plastic cups  Sharpie  orange juice  Gloves  Pepsi  Two containers  Colander

Step by step instructions  1.First put a clean pair of gloves on.  2. Then place two plastic cups on a smooth surface where they will not get knocked over.  3.Next place one of the teeth in one of your plastic cups that is sitting out already.  4. Another step is to put the tooth that is still sitting out in the plastic cup that is empty.  5. After that pour Pepsi into one of the plastic cups. Make sure that you label it A.  6.Now you should pour Orange juice into the other plastic cup that contains a dry tooth. Make sure you label the cup B.  7. Once you have done this have them sit into that cup for a week.  8. After this week put on another pair of gloves that are clean.  9. Now put out the containers. One container in front of each of the plastic cups. Make sure they are open.  10. Next use your colander to pour out the liquid in each cup.  11.Now take each tooth and put them in one container.  12. After that write notes about how they changed.

Control group and Variable group  Control  The Control group is the teeth.  Variable  The Variable group is the liquids. {Pepsi and orange juice}

Observations  Day 1 both teeth soak in the liquids.  Day 2 it looks like a cavity is forming on the tooth in cup A.  3 the tooth in cup A is browner.  Day 4 cup A tooth is brown.  Tooth B is slimy looking.

Data Day one- both of the teeth soaked in the liquids. Day two- not much happens to tooth B. Day two- it seems like a cavity is forming on the tooth. Day three- cup A looks like it is a little bit browner. Day three- the tooth looks like it is dirty in cup B. Day four- cup A with the tooth inside is brown.

Analysis  It did test my Hypothesis. The project itself was impressive and the teeth got a lot of decay as it was supposed to.

Conclusion  If there was a different tooth in the Pepsi and orange juice I wonder if the teeth would get more decay on them? I would clean the teeth next time before I put them in Pepsi and orange juice.
