Poultry Transporting Vehicle

Steps in procedures Using PPE Step 1 Step 2 Lower baskets and clean the back of the vehicle Clean the area around the vehicle

1. Clean using a shovel 3. Clean with a rubber mop 2. Clean using a broom Step 3 4. Gather the feathers and dirt in a garbage bin to be discarded Clean the back of the truck and get rid of dirt

1.Clean the floor of the driver’s cabin Step 4 Cleaning and disinfecting the cabin floor 2.Brush the cabin floor with a brush soaked in detergent 2 3

Step 5 Clean and sweep the area around the vehicle and throw away the dirt into a garbage bin to be discarded Step 6 Add detergent into the high pressure sprayer as instructed and set the Nozzle on “CHEM” position

Step 7 Soak all the surface of the vehicle with soap water from the high pressure sprayer 1. The back of the vehicle2. Body of the vehicle 3. Frame of the vehicle4. Wheel cavity and the wheel of the vehicle Note: After being sprayed with detergent, let it settle for 1 minute before rinsing it off with water

Step 8 Wash all the surface of the vehicle using sprayers set on the “ FAN JET “ position 1. The back of the vehicle2. Body of the vehicle 4. Frame of the vehicle3. Wheel cavity and wheel of the vehicle Note: High pressure sprayer with the “Pencil Jet” position may not be used when cleaning a vehicle because it might damage the vehicle. Fan Jet Position

Step 9 Remove the remaining water in the back of the vehicle using a rubber mop

Use disinfectants on all surfaces of the back of the truck by using a sprayer Step 10.b Use disinfectants for all the surface of the vehicles using a sponge soaked in disinfectant solutions Sponge soaked in disinfectant solution Vehicle’s cabin and cabin’s floor Step 10.a Or

Step 11 Drivers, other passengers and collection yard workers must clean their footwear (rubber boots) with detergent and brushes Step 12 Reload the clean and disinfected baskets onto the vehicle

Poultry Transporting Baskets

Steps of the procedure Step 1 Step 2 Cleaning Phase Using PPE Determine a special area to clean plastic baskets. Sweep the area and put the dirt into a garbage bag for disposal.

1. Add detergent2. Regulate the level of the detergent Step 3 Add detergent into the high pressure sprayer according to the instruction. Set the high pressure sprayer according to the factory instruction and the SOP of the sprayer. Step 4 Make a pile of 5 baskets

Wash the four sides of the baskets with detergents 1.Set the nozzle of the sprayer on the “CHEM” position 2.Wash the four sides of the stacked baskets with detergent using the high pressure sprayer. Note: ask for the second worker to overturn the basket if needed. 2 Step 5 Step 6 After 1 minute, clean the basket using a high pressure sprayer 2.Spray the four sides of the five baskets till all the feces and other organic matters are gone. 1.Set the nozzle of the high pressure sprayer to “Fan Jet 1 2

Step 7. 1.Place five baskets on the ground Clean the top and inside of the basket 2.Wash the top of all baskets with detergents and high pressure sprayer set to the “CHEM”position. 3.After 1 minute, clean the top and insides of each basket using the high pressure sprayer on the “FAN JET” position until all the feces and other organic materials are gone. Note: High pressure sprayer in the “PENCIL JET” position can be used to deal with hard to remove stains.

Step 8 The second worker must turn the baskets upside down after being cleaned. This procedure is repeated for the bottom of the basket so that all the baskets are clean. If all the dirt cannot be removed using high pressure sprayers, some surfaces may need to be cleaned manually using a handbrush and detergent Step 9

Disinfection Phase Preparing the solution Step 10 1.Fill the special tub with 420 litre of water (till it’s full) 2.Take a bucket of water and add 4.2kg of Virkon 4.Slowly pour the solution into the tub while the second worker mixes it using a long stick or broom handle. 3.Mix the solution for about 1 minute

Step 11 Basket Disinfection 1.Soak two baskets completely in disinfectant solutions for at least 10 seconds 2.Lift and replace one basket, let the other basket remain in the tub for at least 10 seconds 3.Leave the basket to dry. The effective minimum disinfection contact time is 10 minutes. Don’t wash the basket with water after soaking it in disinfectant solution.

Note: If there are no dipping tub for the baskets  Spray using a sprayer

Step 12 Put the clean disinfected baskets back into the vehicle. Step 13 The disinfectant in the tub must be replaced once a day or more if the colour changes because of organic material contamination.

Step 14 Cleaning and sweeping the area and throwing dirt away to the garbage bin. Note: Confirm that baskets are dry before being refilled with live poultry. If there is not enough time to dry the basket, then the basket can be washed with water before the chickens are put into the wet baskets with the condition that we must wait for 10 minutes after the baskets were dipped into disinfectants.

Poultry transporting vehicles with the baskets still on the truck.

Steps in the procedure Using Personal Protective Equipments Step 1 Dry cleaning for the back of the truck is done when unloading poultry using a broom. Preparing high pressure sprayer Connected to water source and electricity. Preparing the high pressure sprayer device Karcher. B. Cleaning phase A. Using water proof PPE

1.Fill the detergent container Detergent preparation 2.Set the nozzle on CHEM 3.Set the detergent dossage to 2% for clean surfaces. NOTE: IF THE KARCHER MACHINE IS NOT AVAILABLE 1.Set the detergent applier in the sprayer 2.Use a water and detergent solution, for example: dish washing soap with a concentration of 1/3 detergent and 2/3 water placed in a detergent container complete with a rubber hose. Step 2 4.Set the detergent dossage on 4% for dirty surfaces.

Spray the detergent to all the surface of the truck Make sure there are a lot of foam that covers the truck’s surface, leave it for 1 minute 1. Basket 3. Wheel and Wheel cavity of the truck4. The frame of the truck 2. The body and the back of the truck Step 3 Step 4

Step 5 Cleaning dirt using high pressure sprayer 1.Set the nozzle of the sprayer on the “PENCIL JET” position for very high pressure spraying 2.Wash the corners and the hard to reach parts in the basket, frame and the back of the truck 3.Set the spray nozzle on the high pressure sprayer to “FAN JET” 4.Wash the wide sides of the baskets, wheel cavity and wheel of the truck.

Step 6 Discard the dirt using a shovel into the garbage bin to be disposed Clean the area around the truck with a rubber mop and/or the broom to clean leftover water and dirt into the drainage Step 7

2.Sweep the truck cabin till it’s clean using a small broom and dustpan, discard the dirt into the garbage bin. Preparing the disinfection phase 1.Mix the disinfectant with water according to the the information on the label (virkon 1%, citric acid 2%) 1. Disinfect the cabin using a sprayer 2. Disinfect using a sprayer on the basket, frame and wheel cavity of the truck using a 300 ml/m2 dosage on the truck’s surface. C. Disinfection Phase Truck disinfection Step 9 Step 8

How to do a 300 ml/m2 dossage disinfection on the surface of the truck Litre / minuteVolume of the solution / m2/ minute

Calibration of high pressure sprayer 2.Measure the volume of water obtained in the glass and multiply the result by 6. 3.The result is how much water per litre per minute that the device can spray onto the surface 1.Do a spraying into a plastic bottle for 10 seconds
