CHALLENGE/RESULT Production drop to ~40 bbls/d liquid Suspected massive damage from LCM during workover in 2008 After stimulation, unable to retrieve plug due to debris found on top of plug. SOLUTION : Stimulations with Ko Plus + HDC MK II/Fishing RESULT : Production increased to 968 bbls/d liquid 5.43% WC. After wireline fishing, debris found to be part of competion accessories. And successfully retrieved plug. Prod Tech in Charge – Zadil Hayat & Hasmiza Bakar ** LCM : Loss Circulation Material

Loss Circulation & Water Shut Off Solution

Fast Set Silicate – LCM Is a loss circulate material (LCM) to reduce injectivity temporarily. Able to reduce significant losses while injecting shutting off material (fluid) and allow the treatment fluid to set permanently. Applied when pumping operations experiencing significant loss. (typically 2.5 bpm and above and very low injecting pressure or under vacuum conditions)

Fast Set Silicate – Case History Baronia 23, SKO, PCSB Well injectivity was over 5 bpm at vacuum conditions. 50 bbls of Fast Set Silicate was bull headed and brought down injectivity to 1 bpm at 500 psi. This permitted the planned well interventions to shut off the intended zone to be continued. The lost circulation zone (water producing) was properly shut off.

Water Off Gel 1 – WOG1 Is a long lasting permanent plug for water shut off. It is low viscosity, solids free and self activating gel. It is rigid and dimensionally stable and in liquid form, it can penetrate into narrow fracture. Forms a stable, permanent plug. It can be used as a permanent water shut off material.

Water Off Gel 1 – WOG1 1. WOG1 consist of 4 components – water, sodium silicate, urea based compound and glyoxol based activator. 2. When the glyoxol based activator is added in at certain concentration, it will caused a polymerization process that transform it from liquid stage into solid stage. 3. It creates a solid gel downhole and can withstand compressive differential pressure between 1500 – 2000 psi.

Benefits of WOG1 1.Easy to mix and pump. Self activating forming a homogenous gel. 2.Suitable for plugging pores, small fractures in deep narrow fractures or channel. 3.Suitable for zone abandonment. Hardening time can be adjusted by manipulating additives concentration. 4.Does not contain extremely hazardous substances.

WOG1 vs Cement Plug

WOG1 Temperature Sensitivity Analysis Temperature sensitive only to determine amount of activator needed. The higher the temperature, the lower activator needed to make the gel set

WOG1 Case History Baronia 23, SKO, PCSB 1.Shut off Zone is RM 3.2, depth 6855 – 6889 ft. (34 ft) 2.During injectivity test, well was found to be in vacuum condition and loss circulation material was used to lower down injectivity rate. 3.WOG1 was then displaced to cover 5 ft radial penetration and left downhole to set. 4.After setting time, hydrotest was performed and the permanently set pill held pressure above 300 psi for duration of the test. 5.After 6 months the well still production at 1000 bbl/d at 0% WC Prod Tech in Charge – Ibrahim Subari
