”A Christmas Carol” review

”A Christmas Carol” is a novel written by Charles Dickens ”A Christmas Carol” is a novel written by Charles Dickens. This is one of the most famous tales in the world. A lot of people think ”A Christmas Carol” is a boring thing to read because it is a very long story. Moreover, it is a compulsory reading at secondary school and students hate it because of its length. I also thought so. The main characters of ”Christmas Carol” are Scrooge, Fred, Scrooge’s nephew, and three ghosts.

”A Christmas Carol” tells a story of Scrooge, a greedy and mean man, who loves money and nothing more. He does not care about other people. Actually, Scrooge cares about nothing but money! He works very hard all the time and he earns lots of money, but he does not like spending them at all. The three ghosts are constantly trying to change Scrooge but it is not easy, as Scrooge is not willing to change his attitude towards money and people. Luckily, Fred manages to do it during Christmas.

All in all, Scrooge’s attitude shows that it is not money that makes a person lucky, but it is helping others that brings good luck. Unfortunately, people forget about this but there is a piece of good in everyone, even in such a mean character as Scrooge. In my opinion, ”A Christmas Carol” is a little bit boring and there are too many long descriptions in the book, which makes the plot too long and difficult to be read by a student of twenty- first century. However, the wisdom of the story, that money is not the most important thing in life, is still true and people should not forget about such things as friends, family and tradition, even nowadays when more and more people love money the way Scrooge does.
