Coordinating Districts’ Role in the REAC 3 H Network Cara Cusick, Director of District OutREAC 3 H Kerri White, Assistant State Superintendent for the Office of Educational Support

YOU are a REAC 3 H Coordinating District! (Or you are a guest of a Coordinating District)

You facilitate a Local REAC 3 H Network.

REAC 3 H Network Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) MOU Language 1.Serve as a coordinating district in the REAC 3 H Network (previously referred to as “lead district”). Which means… Organize opportunities for districts in your network to collaborate about implementation of the Oklahoma C 3 Standards, including Common Core, and other statewide initiatives.

REAC 3 H Network Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) MOU Language 2.Develop a detailed regional plan for implementing CCSS with assigned districts. – Identify training timeline and delivery methods – Develop partnerships to coordinate a training network – Enlist higher education and CareerTech – Describe how capacity-building would look in area served Which means… Determine the processes and procedures that will work best for you and other districts in your network to share information and best practices. Incorporate other educational organizations and businesses in order to increase your capacity.

REAC 3 H Network Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) MOU Language 3.Host regular meetings based on OSDE guidelines. Which means… There is not a specified number of meetings you are required to hold, but OSDE recommends a minimum of two meetings per semester. Consider including network districts in additional PD opportunities that your district hosts.

REAC 3 H Network Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) MOU Language 4.Provide OSDE-developed training on CCSS and other related topics. 5.Disseminate professional development to area districts (tools, resources, model curricula, etc.). Which means… Whether it is during your regular network meetings or via , share with districts the presentations, webinars, and sample lessons or documents that OSDE provides. To avoid confusion, be sure to explain what you are giving them, why, and provide direction on how it could be useful to them.

REAC 3 H Network Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) MOU Language 4.Provide OSDE-developed training on CCSS and other related topics. 5.Disseminate professional development to area districts (tools, resources, model curricula, etc.). Which means (continued)… Make sure that district leadership teams of districts in your network know how to use the resources to train their teachers and administrators. (You are not responsible for training every teacher in every district in your network; however, you are welcome to include teachers and administrators from other districts when convenient.)

REAC 3 H Network Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) MOU Language 4.Provide OSDE-developed training on CCSS and other related topics. 5.Disseminate professional development to area districts (tools, resources, model curricula, etc.). Which means (continued)… Model how the Toolkits can be used to disseminate information to small and large groups. (FYI – Toolkit #3 will be available soon.) Use resources such as the REAC 3 H Network page of the OSDE Website, where videos of the summits are posted.

REAC 3 H Network Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) MOU Language 4.Provide OSDE-developed training on CCSS and other related topics. 5.Disseminate professional development to area districts (tools, resources, model curricula, etc.). Which means (continued)… Take responsibility for sharing what you have learned at the summits with your own district administrators and teachers. (In other words, there is no need to request OSDE personnel to attend your next faculty meeting to repeat what you will be hearing today.)

REAC 3 H Network Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) MOU Language 6.Collect data on the effectiveness of implementation. Which means… This will most likely be a combination of formal and informal data. It could include pre and post surveys of the network districts on knowledge and implementation, anecdotes of helpfulness of the network, etc.

REAC 3 H Network Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) MOU Language 7.Submit annual report on REAC 3 H activities, participation, and implementation. Which means… The OSDE asks that you be diligent in turning in reports and data so that we can better analyze the REAC 3 H Network as a whole and make adjustments along the way. There is no need to submit sign-in sheets after each meeting. We will notify you about the most efficient ways to submit your reports. We desire for the network to be as helpful for districts as possible, and we need your assistance to make this happen.

Questions & Discussion about your role (or the role of others) in your local REAC 3 H Network What adjustments might you make to your REAC 3 H Plan in light of what you’ve heard this morning?
