3 1. CONNECT  Listen to understand.  Accept her reality.  Question to discover.

5 2. UNDERSTAND Reach a shared understanding of what change she seeks, her needs and her priorities.

6 3. STRATEGIZE  Explore possible strategies.  Discuss costs and benefits.  Share knowledge and resources.  Decide together on a course of action.

7 4. CLOSE  Summarize the conversation.  Review commitments or future plans.  End on a positive note.

8 CAN INVOLVE:  Several conversations  Multiple systems  Many different people and strategies
