We want a clean city

Worldwide problem The situation in our city Teens and bins We want a clean city Our deeds

I am the Earth And the Earth is me. Each blade of grass, Each honey tree, Each bit of mud, And stick and stone Is blood and muscle, Skin and bone. And just as I Need every bit Of me to make My body fit, So Earth needs Grass and stone and tree And things that grow here Naturally.

Worldwide problem Waste and chemicals Most cities produce a lot of waste every day. If it is just thrown away or even dug up, it may be around for decades, and could even release dangerous chemicals into the soil.

These poisons can threaten the lives of the people that are living or working near by. If toxic or poisonous liquid chemicals are poured into the water, it can be dangerous for the health of all poputation. Even people hundreds of miles away can be affected.

The situation in Saint-Petersburg Built in residents 267 apartments 60% pensioners 9 stories, 25 m high square meters flat roof 300 kg food garbage daily summertime 200 kg daily wintertime

Show me your home and I`ll tell you who you are It is sad to see our streets littered with old lottery tickets, cigarette packages, papers, and wrappers of all kinds.

We all like different kinds of celebrations and national holidays, but nobody cares about the way our streets look like after them/ Look at the photo of the street after the celebration – dirty, littered with bottles, cans, cigarettes packs. Do you want to see you city like this?

Unfortunately, not only streets suffer. Look at what happens inside out home! The walls are incredibly dirty with writings on them? There are bottles left by people? It seems like nobody cleans there! Do you want to live there??

People have always liked going to the country to have rest in clean and healthy environment. But people leave so much rubbish in the country that no one can call these places clean and healthy any more! If people do on like this? There will be no places to relax – all will be dirty and littered!!!

But the most terrible thing is that people are informed about the danger of littering in the country and keep ignoring warning signs.

Teens and bins Youngsters aged were asked what they thought litter was, how big a problem it was in their area, who they thought dropped litter and why they did it?

Teenagers have admitted they drop litter because they don't think it's cool to use a bin. When it comes to dropping litter, the kids questioned admitted their age group were the biggest culprits, with boys more to blame than girls. One 14-year-old said he dropped litter "365 days a year - 'cos I'm always eating".

If your habits resemble those of average Americans, you generate about 4.6 pounds of solid trash per day.

OUR DEEDS We have started a poster campaign We have spread leaflets to make people think about the harm of dropping litter We have asked the handicraft teacher at our school to develop some lessons to teach junior students how to reuse old plastic bottles We have organized an exhibition “New Old Things”

Do you know the people who leave such litter in our canteen after breakfast?
