Patient’s History and Background Patient was involved in a motorcar accident in 1999 Lost left ear and fractured left side of his mandible Undergone four operations

Patient’s History and Background cont. Internal implants were placed in the mandible Implants were rejected due to active Hepatitis B Implants were removed

Patient’s History and Background cont. A prosthetic ear was made in 2000 by Mr. A Jansen a former student Due to active Hepatitis B implants could not be used Mechanical retention was used with aid of spectacles Patient has now recovered from Hepatitis B This year the prosthesis needs to be replaced

Possible Treatment Plan #1 Placement of implants into the left side of patients’ skull Using a dolder bar attachment to attach prosthetic ear 1

Possible Treatment Plan # 2 Using old mechanical retention to keep prosthesis in place Fabricating a new ear prosthesis
