Where we were... Decade old Windows XP computers and servers 10 Mbps Download speeds for Internet Microsoft Office 2003 Inconsistent wifi A dated website

Why did we change? There are 3 main drivers of the Technology updates to Berlin Township Schools: PARCC The 21 st century learner’s technology skills: Use technology as a tool to research, organize, evaluate, and communicate information. Use digital technologies (e.g., computers, PDAs, media players, GPS, etc.), communication/networking tools, and appropriate social networks to access, manage, integrate, evaluate, and create information to successfully function in a knowledge economy. Apply a fundamental understanding of the ethical/legal issues surrounding the access and use of information technologies. The end of XP support

What has been done? 4 new district computer labs Completely new wireless setup. Office 2013 for all new lab computers Adopting OnCourse as the new Student Information System Increased internet bandwidth Acceptable social media sites inclusion into the curriculum Replacement of over 200 XP computers district wide New district, school and teacher websites

The future Student and staff cloud based accounts Google’s affordable Chromebooks Off-siting of our server to Microsoft Remaining Server Upgrades
