The objective of the New Centre of Lodz Programme The objective of the Programme is to create a new functional city centre that will be connected with the historical centre, based on the axis of Piotrkowska Street, by: 1.creating a system of safe and attractive public spaces 2.creative use of the unique historical urban structure dating back to the turn of the 20th century, 3.redeveloping post-industrial and railway zones, as well as districts of metropolitan buildings, 4.creating new investment areas, 5.strengthening cultural functions, 6.creating and developing a multimodal transport hub (conventional and regional rail, bus and urban transport).

The New Centre of Lodz Programme: Progress 1.EC-1 redevelopment and adaptation to serve cultural and artistic purposes EC-1 East is allocated to serve unique cultural functions as part of the "Film Art Centre", The EC-1 West complex is a modern, interactive centre for science and technology The project is co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund and the budget of the City of Lodz Project budget: PLN 274 million. ERDF subsidy: PLN 82 million Planned date of construction works completion: 2013 Cultural and artistic activity launch: 2014

13 2. The New Centre of Lodz Programme: Progress 2. The Rebuilding of the Łódź Fabryczna Railway Station and the Construction of the Multimodal Hub Railway tracks will be located16.5 m below ground level, The station will have four platforms and eight tracks, A double tunnel will be constructed: for long-distance, regional and agglomeration traffic, In the northern part of the station, three-storey underground P&R car parks and a bicycle parking will be constructed. A bus station will be located 8 metres below ground level,

(Poznań), Astaldi (Italy), Przedsiębiorstwo Budowy Dróg i Mostów (Mińsk Mazowiecki) and Przedsiębiorstwo Usług Technicznych "INTERCOR (Zawiercie) The design company acting on behalf of SYSTRA's Polish branch (French consortium) Total investment cost: over 400 mililon Euro Investment cost borne by the City of Lodz: 100 million Euro Investment co-financed from the European Regional Development Fund as part of the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment Investment completion date: 28 February 2015
