Civil Rights DBQ Thesis Statements

While the fight for civil rights raged on, its effectiveness was undermined by discrimination and racism.

The civil rights movement was not a smooth one by any means. Civil rights was marked by turbulence within the United States government, and within the Movement itself, causing the movement to not be as successful.

From the Civil War through the 1960s, African-American civil rights had limited effectiveness due to the extreme discord and outright racism within the U.S. government and in the movement itself.
