VOTE ANDY NAME: Andy AGE: 16 SCHOOL: Bishop Vesey’s Grammar school AMBITIONS: to become a human rights lawyer and go round the world fighting for the rights of the oppressed and persecuted HOBBIES: playing piano, making films, reading, generally relaxing with mates OTHER: I am on my school’s 6th form council and when I care about something, I don’t let go until I’ve done it. When you read my policies on the following slides, I mean what I say: I will not stop until my aims are achieved.

WHY VOTE ANDY? BECAUSE THE ENVIRONMENT MATTERS Global warming is one of the biggest threats to the world today:it will cause major flooding; cause an unprecedented amount of land to become inhospitable desert and cause famine as farmers, especially in Africa, will struggle to adapt their crops to the new weather. If elected I will campaign to make Birmingham’s schools more eco-friendly

WHY VOTE ANDY? BECAUSE THE MEDIA MATTERS A recent survey in the Guardian concluded that 73% of children have never smoked, 42% never drunk alcohol and 80% never taken drugs. Yet from the impression you get from the media in general, all youths are drunken crackheads who will mug you on sight. If elected I will campaign to get a fairer image of youth within the Birmingham press.

WHY VOTE ANDY? BECAUSE THE HOMELESS MATTER When you go into Birmingham city centre, you can’t help but see homeless people: begging, selling big issues, etc.. This becomes worse when you consider that many buildings lie empty most of the time. If elected I will push for the council to take the plight of the homeless more seriously.

WHY VOTE ANDY? BECAUSE SLAVERY MATTERS Despite the abolition of the slave trade over 200 years ago, it is still going on today. People from the poorest countries in the world are being sold into slavery and prostitution after believing the false promise of a better life- in Britain. Many of these sex slaves are children. If elected I will raise the profile of this problem and do my utmost to help eradicate it. Picture from Stop The Traffik ( affik.org)

WHY VOTE ANDY? BECAUSE THE VOTE MATTERS To vote in a general election, you have to be 18. UKYP is campaigning to lower that age to 16, which I fully support. At 16, you are mature enough to make an informed decision. You can get a job and pay taxes, so it’s only right that you have a hand in deciding how those are spent. If elected, I will fully support UKYP’s campaign to lower the voting age.

WHY VOTE ANDY? BECAUSE THE ENVIRONMENT MATTERS BECAUSE THE MEDIA MATTERS BECAUSE THE HOMELESS MATTER BECAUSE SLAVERY MATTERS BECAUSE THE VOTE MATTERS BECAUSE YOU MATTER
