v | © OverDrive, Inc | Page 4 Audiobooks and eBooks … What's the Difference? An audiobook is: A recorded reading of a book that can be downloaded and enjoyed on a computer or portable device. An eBook is: A digital book, magazine, or graphic novel that can be downloaded and read on a computer or portable device.

v | © OverDrive, Inc | Page 5 What are Digital Rights? Digital titles are protected using Digital Rights Management (DRM) which outlines what you can do with a title after download. You can view the digital rights for any title by clicking on the title cover from the Virtual Branch website. This will open the Details page. For example:  Burn to CD.  Transfer to a portable device.  Adobe eBooks: Copy / print.  All copies of an expired title must be deleted / destroyed.

v | © OverDrive, Inc | Page 17 Adobe Activation You will be prompted to activate your computer the first time Adobe Digital Editions opens.  Select 'Authorize Computer'. This option allows you to download to multiple computers and transfer to devices.  Click the link 'Get an Adobe ID', and follow the instructions to create an Adobe account. You just need an address.  Return to the Activation screen, and enter the address and password for your Adobe account.  Click 'Activate'. Authorization allows you to download to multiple computers and transfer to the Sony Reader. Be sure to authorize every computer and your Sony Reader using the same Adobe ID.

v | © OverDrive, Inc | Page 18 Mobipocket Registration Before you check out a Mobipocket title, be sure to register a Device PID.  Copy the device PID from Mobipocket Reader: Reading Devices > Edit Properties > Copy Device PID.  Paste the device PID into your Virtual Branch account: Virtual Branch Website > My Account > My Mobipocket PIDs.

Browse, check out, and download an audiobook that includes permission to transfer to a portable device. 3. Try an 'Advanced Search'. Select a format and a subject area. Note the option to include only titles available for check out. 4. Look for a title that is currently checked out and place a hold on it. 5. In OverDrive Media Console, play your downloaded audiobook, and try transferring to your device with the Transfer wizard.
