Jodi Bissonnette CSC December 6, 2012

Societal Topics Weeks 7and 8 Internet Protocol (IP) addresses are numeric code used by any device that connects to the internet to identify the same source. Most IP addresses have been on a IPv4 base, but recently IPv6 addresses are becoming more used because they offer more addresses for the ever- expanding internet. IP addresses are controlled by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority, then divided by region, and dictated by those regions policies regarding the internet.

 IPv6 will replace the IPV4 addresses since they ran out in IPv6 will make 2128 addresses available to the internet public. This is a necessity to keeping the internet running fast, and safely. The internet society helps in the development of these new types of addresses helping with hands on learning to master this new innovation.  Network neutrality is personal control of the content you experience online. All content within the law should be treated as impartial, because that is what the internet is based on. The internet society focuses on issues of liberty of expression, preventing discrimination and supporting free choice, and where these lines are drawn.  Windows 8 is the next upgrade to Microsoft’s operating system. However Microsoft is already working on an even newer operating system code named “blue”. They want it to be compatible with the OS operating systems. One concern is that the Blue will make windows 8 better but a whole new program. Will consumers have to buy all over, or will Microsoft gracefully update the compatible software. Societal Topics Weeks 9 and 10

Week 11 tweet  Skeuomorph  Skeuomorph is the creative design of companies that make an object look like its created out of a different material and or texture than it is. This term has been used since the 1980’s. Computers can use Skeuomorph design as well to emulate materials that are in nature digitally. I think this design technique is very cool and innovative.  Wk 12 st  Spam  MOOC
