Font Style, Size Line Spacing Margins TAB key Clip Art Bullets and Numbering Spell Check Alignment: Center, Justify & Right Word Wrap Font: Bold, Italics, Underline Copy & Paste, Drag & Drop Font Effects

Size Font Style

Font: Bold, Italics, Underline BOLD: A feature that prints designated text darker than the rest of the copy to add emphasis ITALICS: Change to the font effect to make the letters all slanted. UNDERLINE: Underlines text as it is keyed or existing text as a block.

Clip Art & Tab Key  TAB: A key that when struck causes the cursor to move to a preset position, as in indenting paragraphs.  When you click on the picture your picture tool bar should pop up. You can always right click on your picture for more options.  You must remember to click “text doggie” then choose, “tight”, “behind text”, or “in front of text” from the picture toolbar or you won’t be able to move the picture after inserting it.  Using “Behind Text” means the picture will not disrupt the writing.

In older versions of Microsoft Word you can find this under Format. Go To Format – Paragraph. In the middle of the window, find LINE SPACING. Line Spacing

Alignment Left, Center, Right, and Justify. Left: aligns text to the left. Center: centers text. Right: aligns text to the right. Justify(Justification): align text to both the left and right margins, adding extra space between word as necessary. In older versions you may find this under Format.

Margins Under Page Layout you find Margins then click Custom Margins. In older versions of Microsoft It may be under File- Page Set up. This is where you would also set up header and footer size and choose orientation (portrait or landscape.

Bullets & Numbering Highlight the whole list of words. Go to FORMAT – BULLETS & NUMBERING. Click on Numbering and select a style of numbering for your list. To place a bullet in front of each word – highlight all the words in the list. Go to FORMAT-BULLETS. Select a bullet style and click on it. Hit OK

Copy & Paste Drag & Drop There are three ways to copy and paste: o Edit – Copy – Paste. o Control-C for Copy and Control-V for paste. o Mouse Right click – copy, mouse right click –paste. (you must first highlight information to be copied) Drag and Drop: To move or copy text and graphics between windows using drag- and-drop editing, follow these steps: 1. Select the text or graphics that you want to move. 2. Do one of the following: -To move a selection, point to the selection and hold down the mouse button until you see the drag-and-drop pointer. -To copy a selection, hold down the Ctrl key, point to the selection, and then hold down the mouse button until you see the drag-and-drop pointer. 3. Drag the pointer to the new location. Note that the object is inserted at the location of the insertion point, not at the pointer. 4. Release the mouse button to drop the text into place.

Font Effects In newer version of Microsoft Word you can click the small arrow under the right bottom corner of the Font Box.

Spell Checker Use the spell checker to check for errors. Every red underlined word shows a potential error. Place the cursor on the word and right click. The computer will give you suggestions for changes. Click on the correct change. Another way to spell check is to click on the ABC icon on the Menu Bar with the checkmark OR click on Tools-Spelling and Grammar from the Menu Bar. Put cursor at end of paragraph. Hit ENTER twice. In newer versions
