How do we get started? Undertake significant research to indentify areas of strength and excellence Detailed understanding of the capacity within the diocese Analysis of how best practice is shared in our schools Assessment of Catholic leadership potential across the Diocese Working together for the common good

Initial survey A detailed survey covering 6 main areas Information collected electronically ( A collaborative survey requiring Headteachers to complete this with their Chair of Govs and some key players from SLT Deadline: 20 th December 2012

1. Training New Teachers Preserve the distinctiveness of our ethos and mission by identifying where Catholic provision is needed Identify our own areas of outstanding practice to train and retain our Catholic teachers Analysis of where the best training occurs (phase, KS, subject) in order to build a “quality matrix” from which schools can access support

2. Continuing Professional Development Identify: – good practice – “experts” – key challenges and how schools are developing solutions Share expertise Facilitate greater collaboration

3. Developing Leadership Select and “grow” future Catholic leadership talent Identify: – good and outstanding leadership at all levels – innovation Share strengths both in SLT and in Governance Use our collective resources to provide where LAs are unable to maintain previous levels

4. Specialist Staff Identify: – our own pool of experts with skills and experience to support colleagues in School-to-School networks – those who can lead in specific areas (especially in response to Government agendum) – where our potential new specialist partners are and develop them Ensure we remain at the forefront of specialised teaching across all phases

5. School-to-School Support Identify: – those schools committed to outreach and with the capacity to do so – individuals or clusters with a track record of working effectively within their own schools Share our collective resources to ensure continual improvement Live our Pastoral Plan – “To go out and bear fruit” through collaborative work, ongoing formation and outreach

6. Research and Development Identify: – which schools are engaged in R&D – dissemination of learning from research through attendance at events or participation in online communities Exploit ability to work with other schools and networks across the Diocese Highlight opportunities for schools to learn from and with each other, to disseminate what works Rigorously evaluate and monitor new initiatives
