ICT is at the forefront of Rwanda’s transformation to a knowledge- based economy Rwanda continues to be one of the fastest-growing African countries in ICT Liquid Telecom has long recognised the advantages of Rwanda’s central African location and the country’s role as an internet service hub for east and central Africa Internet penetration was 13% at the end of 2013, it is expected to be at least 95% by the end of 2016 Liquid Telecom Rwanda plans to spend US $34 million over the next two years, laying thousands of kilometres of new fibre infrastructure across the country Fibre Infrastructure Investment

Supports our East Africa Fibre Ring, provides consistently high speeds, continuous uptime across region between Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania and back into Kenya Rwanda Backbone Fibre Routes

A new 40km high capacity Metro fibre ring has been implemented This will support the deployment of Liquid Telecom’s new Gigabit-capable Passive Optical Networks (GPON) / Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) infrastructure build Progressive projects to upgrade and enhance existing fibre and copper network Kigali Metro/Access Network

Five new GPON / FTTH areas covering 5,000 homes and business currently being planned High quality ducting and fibre cable components used in installation of FTTH infrastructure Future deployment proposals to include the existing EWSA electricity poles to install aerial fibre cables to the home GPON Deployment Kagarama Kibagabaga Kagugu Gisozi Nyarutarama

The first new FTTH area in Kagugu is currently being built, with over 16km of new buried duct and fibre cables being laid, which will serve over 800 homes with download speeds between Mbps Kagugu GPON
