A photo exposè of my experiences while serving in the US Marine Corps
Me and Auburn HS classmate Stanley Thompson in Da Nang, RVN
My bunker at Camp Carroll. Incoming rockets, mortar and artillery rounds dropped at sporadically 24 hrs. per day, while NVA probed the perimeter at night. Trenches were dug to various locations on the base so we could stay below ground level when moving.
The Marine in the center was killed Valentine’s Day He was blown in half from an exploding bunker. Another man was killed inside the bunker, I caught small pieces of shrapnel and my eardrum was ruptured. A fourth Marine was also wounded.
