1. For many words just add s 2. Words ending is s, ss, ch or x: usually add es 3. Words ending in f: usually change the f to a v and add es 4. Words with a y at the end: often change the y to an i and add es 5. Words ending in o: sometimes add s; sometimes add es (e.g. pianos, tomatoes) Singular and plural
