CURRICULUM UPDATES: Course Codes, CCMS and Smart Core/Core Requirements August 7, 2013

Resources Needed Curriculum Updates PowerPoint Course Code Numbering System document Smart Core/Core documents Access to Course Code Management System, if possible May be found on the curriculum and instruction page of the ADE website services/curriculum-and-instruction

Intent of this work “Clean-up” existing documents On-going work; expect to see additional codes added in CCMS (distance learning, Virtual Arkansas, etc.) Updated forms will reflect the most recent date Removed or discontinued codes will be phased out over time

Curriculum Frameworks Basis for everything we do! Found at - under curriculum frameworkswww.arkansased.org If there are no curriculum frameworks for a course that your district/school wishes to count towards the required 22 units, you should submit a course approval Courses that fall under the umbrella of ACE, concurrent credit, AP, IB, EAST, etc., do not require individual course approval, but may require program approval Local credit only explanation

Course codes Attached to curriculum frameworks that we created or courses submitted for approval by a school Numbering System Each digit means something important! Explore the Course Code Numbering System document

Course Code Management System Electronic database of courses/offerings Links to Accreditation reports, APSCN-Triand, E-School and Higher Education Quality data depends on accuracy of this work Features of CCMS: Subscribe Export Search Roll-over Grade-low and Grade-high go with the course! District/School must verify licensure!
