Panelists David Patterson, South Carolina Budget and Control Board, Division of Research and Statistics Leigh Bolick, Division of Early Care and Education, South Carolina Department of Social Services Missy Cochenour, State Support Team Jeff Sellers, State Support Team W ELCOME 3

Definition: The ability to support a system through adequate financial and human resources accounting for current maintenance and long-term enhancements. Producing an enduring, efficient, effective, and sustainable ECIDS—is not a start-and-finish endeavor; there will always be more work to do to ensure it remains current and relevant. Sustainability can take many forms—the most important of which may often be showing the value of the data in informing decisions. W HAT IS SUSTAINABILITY ? 4

Documentation of how much it will cost to support and maintain the integration of early childhood data into the ECIDS Potential funding sources beyond federal grants identified Documentation of training opportunities and other assurance that end users are properly prepared to use the ECIDS Development of a sustainability plan that encompasses the total cost of ownership for the ECIDS W HAT ARE A FEW INDICATORS THAT AN ECIDS CAN BE SUSTAINED ? 19
