IP Network Alabama Supercomputer Authority (ASA) ASA Provides Already had a robust / diverse backbone network Experience in each County with schools ASA Provides Hosting for Core Call Routing Facilities (ACCRF) Huntsville and Montgomery ACCRFs in core network facilities – no connectivity issues Backbone Network between ACCRFs Either ACCRF can carry the state if one fails Last mile connection to PSAPs Internet Connectivity when needed

ASA ANGEN Backbone Network Huntsville Mobile Birmingham Montgomery 10G Atlanta ASA ANGEN Backbone Network Dallas Nashville ACCRF AREN Core Routers Serving Clients Multiple paths to either ACCRF location – One network cut will not isolate PSAPs from ACCRF – either ACCRF can support the entire state A PSAP could be isolated due to a cut – larger PSAPs will purchase a redundant/diverse IP connection before disconnecting from the legacy Selective Router. ACCRF

ANGEN Phases Phase I Phase II Phase III Aggregate wireless 9-1-1 calls to ANGEN Route to PSAPs via existing Selective Routers Phase II Install IP Connections to PSAPs Some require Legacy PSAP Gateways Begin routing calls via IP to PSAPs Phase III Convert VoIP & other wired carriers When a PSAP is connected via IP to ANGEN their calls will start to use that connection. The transition to IP will occur as PSAPs are connected. May connect to the IP ready PSAPs first – order of connection is not important. Large group of PSAPs are looking at a hosted call taking solution that will use the ANGEN network.

End Goal & Benefits All PSAPs connected via IP Larger PSAPs with redundant/ diverse IP connections All Carriers routing calls to ANGEN Alabama is prepared for NG9-1-1 Immediate Benefits Quicker connection time from Caller to PSAP Transfer calls anywhere in state – no LATA issues Redundant CCRFs (SRs are not redundant now) Re-route calls during disasters / incidents Greatly reduce costs of 9-1-1 service Under Benefits – Alabama does not have redundancy at the Selective Router / Tandem level. If a SR fails it will affect all PSAPs served which varies from 7 to 11 PSAPs in a geographic area.
