Zululand District Aids Council Report to KPCA Introduction This report is the summary outline of what has mostly been happening in our District during this reporting quarter in terms of responding to HIV & AIDS, STIs, TB and other developmental issues. It is a collective report compiled from deliverables of all sectors and or Departments, especially the social cluster. It mainly focuses on the co-ordination of programmes within the Zululand District in responding to basic health challenges, primarily HIV & AIDS, STIs, TB and strengthening of OSS and its initiatives.

The district still has agree on reliable reporting systems

Involvement of SGBs, Parents, Community members & other interest groups in HIV & AIDS programmes

Fast tracking of eligible HIV positive pregnant women to access ARVs Baby HIV antibody test positive at 18 months rate <3%3%4%2%There is a steady decline in babies who test HIV positive at 18 months To continue with health education at all times and support for good infant feeding practices. ANC booking before 20 weeks rate 50%45%47.8%51%There is a gradual increase noted each quarter. To continue with health education and active identification of pregnant women by all health workers at all levels. To continue to involve stake holders

District performance has improved due to the contribution of NGO/CBO partners as well as CCGs. Number of female condoms distributed There is a continued improvement in the number of female condoms distributed. Number of males aged circumcised The program seems to only attract school going population who are mainly available during school holidays. Need to work hard in motivating targeted men to agree to be circumcised.

Children under 12 years sexually assaulted rate Reduce from 34% to 5% of new sexual assaults. 45%47%57%There is a steady increase in the number of children who are sexually assaulted. The district has to come up with a strategy to involve all stakeholders
