Work absenteeism Take a day off sick/stay away from the office Days absent from work Absentees To be genuinely ill To take time off work To have high rates of absenteeism Sick leave

How to improve absenteeism? Work motivation? Rewarding employees who have good attendance. Better staff management enabling better respect between employees Promoting staff Offering prizes or vouchers Improve job satisfaction Provide personnel support

What do you think about these suggestions for reducing absenteeism? Stop paying employees for the first few days that they take off sick. (one day sicknesses cost the company) Give an extra day’s holiday to all employees who take no days off sick. Reduce sick pay to 50% of employee’s normal pay. Employ an onsite doctor who the staff have to report to when ill. Offer a prize/reward (vouchers, gimmicks) to those with best attendance rate.

Rewarding good staff performance- job motivation What is the most crucial for a happy work environment? To be rewarded by a pay rise? Or better conditions? More job recognition? To have efforts recognized and somehow rewarded. Dealing with non- performing colleagues: the sack? Giving employees more responsibility? Better conditions: parking space, better offices, better sense of belonging, Professional development? (staff training) Treat employees like company’s greatest assets.
