FOREWORD Welcome to 7th grade math. Positive attitude is the key of success. Let’s keep it all the time.

WHY DO WE HAVE PROCEDURES? A procedure is the way that we do things. To do things right, we have to follow some simple procedures, for example: To open your locker, you have to select your combination as directed by the lock manufacturer. To place a call on your phone, you need to enter the number in the right order. So, to be successful in learning, you need to follow some simple procedures.

ENTRANCE Make sure you have all necessary materials for the class. Enter the classroom quietly. Go directly to your assigned seat. Get ready for your work. Work on the Bell Ringer on your loose-leaf paper.

WHEN YOU ARE TARDY Stand by Mrs. Neal’s desk. Give her your tardy pass. Go to your seat after you are given permission to do so. You will not be excused from any work you missed. Get the assignment from a classmate or see Edmodo and do it at home.

RIGHT AFTER THE BELL RINGS Immediately start the bell work that will be on the board. Do the bell work on loose-leaf paper. When you finish, wait quietly for the next direction.

DURING INSTRUCTION Listen to the teacher with full attention. No talking or whispering. Give a slow down symbol or/and an over your head symbol if you need help. Ask permission to speak by raising your hand after Mrs. Neal is done teaching the lesson. Ask questions related to the subject. Other questions which are not related to the subject can be asked after class or during independent practice time. After instruction, make sure you understand the concept. If not, ask questions by mentioning which part you didn’t understand.

WHILE YOU ARE WORKING Make sure you read or listen to the directions about your work and understand them. If you didn’t understand, ask help from other students sitting around you. If they also don’t understand, ask to the teacher to explain it. If you are asked to help, be polite and kind and offer your best. Talking to each other should be no louder than a whisper. The person sitting on the other side of the room should not be interrupted by your noise. Respect each other and be friendly. Use your time wisely. Put forth your best effort to finish your work on time.

KEEPING YOUR Notebook You should have a composition math notebook which will be used for only your math class. Use pen or pencil to write in your notebook. Using two different colors, one for the title and a different one for the body of the text, will make your notebook look better and more organized. Write your full name, and your math section on the cover of your notebook. Keep your notebook clean and organized. Your notebook will be collected and checked from time to time. Turn it in on time when you are asked. Take good care of your notebook. Do not lose it. IT WILL BE A MAJOR GRADE.

IF I RAISE MY HAND and STATE “Give me Five” (Quiet Signal) Stop whatever you are doing at that moment. Face the teacher and wait silently. Notify any classmates who haven’t noticed that the teacher has raised his hand. No talking or whispering. All of your attention should be given to the teacher.

AFTER YOU ARE DONE Check your work and the directions one more time to see if you missed anything or did something incorrectly. If the assignment is to be turned in, do so. Start your reading session. (Read your book, magazine, etc.)

DISMISSAL Clean your work area and take all garbage to the trash can. Wait for Mrs. Neal to dismiss you. The ring of the bell does not dismiss you. After you get permission to leave exit the room quietly. Thank You.

HOMEWORK PROCEDURE You will be given homework on a daily basis. Sample Heading: Albert Einstein Lesson Title Date

WHEN YOU ARE ABSENT (class work) It is your responsibility to get any make up work. (class work & homework) You will be responsible to make up all work the class has completed together. Whether it counts for a grade or not. It is important to be in math class each and every day. Making up class work is very difficult without the instructions.

WHEN YOU ARE ABSENT (homework) For Homework: check Edmodo If the work is not posted, get the work from me as soon and you get back. You will only have one day to make up the assignment. If you missed a test because of your excused absence, inform me and arrange a time to make up the test after school. You will have 3 days to complete a major assignment. You will not be able to make up any work if you have an unexcused absence. You will get a “0” for those assignments or exams.

CLASSROOM RULES CLASSROOM RULES 1. Bring all needed materials to class. (see materials to have in class each and every day for a list) 2. Be in your seat and ready to work when the bell rings. (Pencils should be sharpened before the bell rings, paper and pencils should be out and ready for work, and warm-ups are to be started as soon as possible after entering the room.) 3. Respect and be polite to all people. 4. Respect other people’s property. 5. Obey all school rules.
