Sub Genre’s in Horror There are many sub-genre’s amongst the horror genre of film. Some of these include: Giallo, Urbanoia, Body horror, psychological, supernatural, found footage, torture porn, monster movies, slasher/stalker, sci-fi horror, J-horror, zombie.

Psychological horror Relies on a characters fears, guilt's and beliefs, emotional instability and at times the supernatural to build tension and further the plot. Examples of this include: The shining, The Ring and The Excorcist

Slasher movies are also built up on a lot of mystery and suspense and may sometimes overlap with crime. A large number of people are usually murdered in ‘Slasher’ films, usually the murderer’s identity is not revealed until the end of the film to leave the audience guessing.
