Our First Scenario Co-facilitating in a total health environment where we support people to live full, meaningful and healthy lives… my supervisor and the CEO of our organization will be distressed if they walk into a WRAP group I co- facilitate and discover smoking, cutting and eating 3 gallons of chocolate ice cream under the heading of Wellness Tools. 2 How can I uphold the values and ethics of WRAP… and satisfy the mission/vision of the organization where I work?
Another Scenario Working with younger children, ages 8–10 years old in a public school, one young person states that his wellness tool is making fun of and picking on kids that are smaller than he is… Our school has an anti- bullying campaign. How do I respond within the values and ethics ? 3
Scenarios From You? 4
Another Scenario In our curriculum guidelines it says: Emphasize simple, safe, inexpensive self-help strategies and skills. Share practical information that participants can easily use in their lives. Don’t allow participants to divert you from this task. 5 Based on this, what happens if a young person shares a wellness tool that is illegal, such as, under age drinking?
Scenarios From You? 6
Another Scenario I work for an agency and am mandated to report un-safe behavior per a state licensing requirement. There is a list of activities that I am required to report, or I will lose my job. An item on that list is cutting; another is purging. What should I do and how should I respond when a person wants us to write them during a wellness toolbox session? 7
Another Scenario During the brainstorming session on Wellness Tools a man attributes Gamblers Anonymous as saving his life. He tells us he won’t come to WRAP anymore because the scribe wrote down another person’s wellness tool- drinking a glass of wine and playing slot machines at a nearby casino. 8 He says he would stay if we take the gambling wellness tool off of the list. How might I reply to his concerns?
Another Scenario Co-facilitating WRAP in a rehabilitation center specifically working with people over-coming drug and/or alcohol abuse, what if during a brainstorm session, one person wants to add ‘getting drunk’ to the wellness toolbox easel pad sheet and another person states, they do not want to see ‘getting drunk’ as a wellness tool on the wall every day. How do I respond upholding the values and ethics? 9
