Reformed University Fellowship March 10, 2004 Winter Quarter Week #10
Sometimes A Light Surprises 1. Sometimes a light surprises The Christian while he sings; It is the Lord Who rises With healing in His wings: When comforts are declining, He grants the soul again A season of clear shining, To cheer it after the rain.
2. In holy contemplation We sweetly then pursue The theme of God’s salvation, And find it ever new; Set free from present sorrow, We cheerfully can say, Let the unknown tomorrow Bring with it what it may.
3. Tomorrow can bring us nothing, But He will bear us through; Who gives the lilies clothing Will clothe His people too; Beneath the spreading heavens No creature but is fed; And He Who feeds the ravens Will give His children bread.
4. Though vine nor fig tree neither Their wonted fruit should bear, Though all the fields should wither, Nor flocks or herds be there; Yet, God the same abiding, His praise shall tune my voice; For while in Him confiding, I cannot but rejoice. ©2001 Kevin Twit Music. Words: William Cowper (alt. Kevin Twit). Music: Kevin Twit.

2. Let us love the Lord who bought us, Pitied us when enemies Called us by his grace and taught us Gave us ears and gave us eyes; He has washed us with His blood, He presents our souls to God.
3. Let us sing through fierce temptation Threaten hard to bear us down For the Lord our strong salvation Holds in view the conqueror’s crown; He who washed us with His blood, Soon will bring us home to God.
4. Let us wonder grace and justice Join and point to mercy’s store When through grace in Christ our trust is Justice smiles and asks no more; He who washed us with His blood, Has secured our way to God.
5. Let us praise and join the chorus Of the saints enthroned on high Here they trusted Him before us Now their praises fill the sky; Thou hast washed us with Thy blood, Thou art worthy Lamb of God. Words by John Newton. Music by Laura Taylor. © 2001 Laura Taylor Music.
Begin My Tongue Begin, my tongue, some heavenly theme And speak some boundless thing; The mighty works, or mightier name Of our eternal.
Chorus: Tell of His wondrous faithfulness And sound His power abroad; Sing the sweet promise of His grace, The love and truth of God.
His every word of grace is strong As that which built the skies; The voice that rolls the stars along Speaks all the promises.
Chorus: O might I hear Thy heavenly tongue But whisper, “Thou art Mine!” Those gentle words shall raise my song To notes almost divine.
Chorus: How would my leaping heart rejoice, And think my heav’n secure! I trust the all creating voice, And faith desires no more.
Begin, my tongue, some heavenly theme And speak some boundless thing; The mighty works, or mightier Name Of our eternal King.

3. O may thy soldiers faithful, true, and bold, Fight as the saints who nobly fought of old, And win with them the victor’s crown of gold, Alleluia, allelu…
4. The golden evening brightens in the west; Soon, soon to faithful warriors comes their rest; Sweet is the calm of paradise the blest, Alleluia, allelu…
5. But lo! There breaks a yet more glorious day; The saints triumphant rise in bright array; The King of glory passes on his way, Alleluia, Allelu…

Man of Sorrows 1. Man of sorrows, what a name For the Son of God who came Ruined sinners to reclaim; Alleluia, what a Savior! Bearing shame and scoffing rude, In my place condemned He stood, Sealed my pardon with His blood; Alleluia, what a Savior!
Now praise the risen Lamb Who is the great I AM
2. Guilty, vile, helpless, we; Spotless Lamb of God was He Full atonement, can it be? Alleluia, what a Savior! Lifted up was He to die, “It is finished!” was His cry Now in heaven exalted high; Alleluia, what a Savior!
Now praise the risen Lamb Who is the great I AM
3. When He comes, our glorious King, All His ransomed home to bring Then anew this song we’ll sing; Alleluia, what a Savior!
