WORKSHOP Change Management Strategy TEMPLATE
Presentation transcript:

Please read and then delete this slide This template is provided as a guideline only for change management presentations. Only headings are provided. See Prosci’s toolkit for additional information. The sequence of this presentation is a suggestion only. Prepare your story in a way that makes sense to you and your audience.

Project description and background Keep it brief! Remember to start with a compelling story of why change management is important to the success of your change and the risk of not managing the people side of the change. Include the risk to the organization if this change is poorly managed. Address the pain points of your audience and what they care about (e.g., executives will focus on financials)

Connecting change management to business results Connect CM to financials Make a clear statement of how change management directly impacts the value and financials for this project. Use tools, graphs and others methods that help your audience understand how change management impacts your project objectives and return on investment. Remember that the objective of managing the people side of change is to achieve business results on time and on budget; however, your audience will not automatically make this connection.

Change characteristics Gather highlights from the change characteristics assessment including how many employees, how many groups, type of change, magnitude of the change, etc. – do not use the “score” from the assessment since that is only meaningful to you and not your audience.

Impact assessment by group If you cut and paste from the Impact Index tool, use the command “paste special” in PowerPoint and then select “picture.”

Organizational attributes Provide the top 2 or 3 insights about your organization that makes it change ready or change resistant.

Change characteristics Risk assessment grid Change Medium risk High risk resistant Organizational Attributes Change ready Low risk Medium risk Small Large Incremental Disruptive Change characteristics

Unique risks and challenges Study the results of the Impact Index (your assessment results) and select a few specific areas to discuss here. If your summary page had high-risk (red-shaded) scores, talk specifically about why, and highlight these risks in your presentation.

Potential consequences to the organization if this change is poorly managed Brainstorm what may occur to the organization if this change is poorly managed. What is the risk to the organization if this change fails?

Team structure and sponsor model Create your combined team structure and sponsor model

Anticipated points of resistance Where do you expect to encounter resistance and why? Consider combining with the special tactics slide (next slide)

Special tactics for this change by group What tactics might I employ early in the project to prevent this “anticipated resistance” from occurring?

Change management team preparation strategies What type of training will your team need in change management? What components of change management represent the largest gaps for your team?

Sponsor assessment diagram This diagram is the number one predictor of success or failure for a project. Take your time and be candid with your assessment.

Unique sponsorship challenges Summarize your sponsorship issues from the sponsor assessment diagram and from the Impact Index.

Steps for educating sponsors How will you prepare your business leaders to be effective sponsors?

Communications plan target audiences These audiences should be the same as those identified as your “impacted groups” from the assessment exercise.

Communication plan You may choose to complete the template on the CD (Managing Change tab), but for your presentation, find a creative way to illustrate how you will deploy your communications.

Sponsor roadmap Be sure to address the issues identified in the sponsor assessment diagram. You may choose to complete the template on the CD (Managing Change tab), but for your presentation, find a creative way to illustrate the key sponsor activities.
