When it’s all been said and when it’s all been done!
Sometimes in the course of our lives as Christians certain truths hit home more then other times. Sometimes in all our supposed righteousness and might I say arrogance and pride, we are confronted once again with the heart of Jesus and we are humbled. We discuss great doctrines and memorize lot’s of scripture and deep down inside the flesh says, “good job you spiritual person”!
Then a teaching moment comes along and God once again reminds us of these verses. 1 Cor 2:1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. 2 For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.
3 I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. 4 And my speech and my preaching [were] not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
1 Cor 1:26 For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, [are called.] 27 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; 28 and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are,
29 that no flesh should glory in His presence. 30 But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God– and righteousness and sanctification and redemption– 31 that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the LORD.” We are jarred loose from our piousness and confidence in the flesh. And perhaps we have a moment like Paul…
Phil 3 For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh, 4 though I also might have confidence in the flesh. If anyone else thinks he may have confidence in the flesh, I more so: 5 circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, [of] the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee; 6 concerning zeal, persecuting the church; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.
7 But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. 8 Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which [is] from the law, but that which [is] through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;
Or maybe like Isaiah… 1 In the year that a King Uzziah died, I b saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His [robe] filled the temple. 2 Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, c with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3 And one cried to another and said: d “Holy, holy, holy [is] the LORD of hosts; e The whole earth [is] full of His glory!”
4 And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke. 5 So I said: “Woe [is] me, for I am 1 undone! Because I [am] a man of f unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The LORD of hosts.”
Then we know and cry out with the tax collector… Luke 18:13 13 “And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise [his] eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’ It is when we come to the place of total helplessness that we are humbled and the Spirit begins to be evident in our lives through these verses…
(Rom 12:10) [Be] kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; (Rom 12:16 ) Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion.
(Rom 15:5 ) Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus, (Rom 15:7 ) Therefore receive one another, just as Christ also received us, to the glory of God. (1Cor 11:33 ) Therefore, my brethren, when you come together to eat, wait for one another.
(1Cor 12:25 ) that there should be no schism in the body, but [that] the members should have the same care for one another. (Eph 4:2 ) with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, (Col 3:13 ) bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also [must do.]
