Born November 15, 1887 in Kirkwood, Missouri Grew up living in her grandfather’s house who was a pastor for a Presbyterian Church Attended Bryn Mawr College and received her B.A in 1909 Never married; was always living with her mother until her death and supported herself by freelance writing Died in New York City in 1972 after suffering from several strokes Imagist movement

Related to H.D (Hilda Doolittle), Williams, T.S Elliott and Ezra pound Had writing stages: discipline and heroic behavior, to spiritual grace and love, she went from scrutinizing an object to comparing objects, and describing characteristics of animals and athletes. “She was fond of animals, and much of her imagery is drawn from the natural world.
